Allo Girls
Allo Girls
Grandma called me a slut when she saw my picture in the paper. Like everyone else, she read about the beach party and how the police shut it down at dawn. No one was arrested, but that wasn’t in the press release: Allo Girls party ‘til sun up! Bad reputation grows, police fail to contain crowd.
And that was it; we were famous.
We were the faces and the voices – me, Charlie, Becca, and Jack. Dani Sands and Mama Dentro wrote the songs, planned events, hired stylists and all that. Me and B just had to show up and boom! the party was on!
Anyways, that’s how it was for a few years. Yum! Yum! Yum! hit number one in the UK and number three in the states. Everywhere I looked there were pictures of us in vibrant vinyl pants, all made-up, smiling and partying.
B was the hot one; I was the scandalous one; Charlie and Jack mostly just danced. Inspired by Grandma, I dressed the sluttiest – which was a lot of fun, to be perfectly honest. Grandma would approve of what I wear nowadays, but she died alongside her judgements. I’m married and I have two beautiful daughters – just as scandalous as they choose to be!
